THE CHIEF'S REGALIA OF THE SECWEPEMC MUSEUM
The Chief’s Regalia of the Secwepemc Museum
The Chief’s Regalia was made by Dr. Mary Thomas in the 1990’s for the Secwepemc Museum. This consists of a buckskin tunic, leggings and beaver hide breech cloth. The bird designs on the front are made from porcupine quills embroidered into the fabric; these were dyed red and blue. Other decorations include bear claws and fringing. The beads, bells, and piping reflect contact with early European traders.
